This weekend, 153 British schoolgirls will take to the slopes in Flaine for the 53rd Schoolgirls Ski Championships, organised by The Ladies Ski Club.
Teams of girls aged 11-18 from over 40 schools will take part in this annual event, held in Flaine, Haute Savoie, for the past 20 years. With excellent snow this year it promises to be an exciting weekend with excellent skiing.
After training on Sunday, the girls will ski 2 runs in the Giant Slalom race on Monday followed by the Team Parallel Slalom. Competition is fierce between the schools in this exciting knockout event.
On Tuesday the girls will ski 2 runs in the Slalom race. The prize-giving for both days will take place on Tuesday evening in the magnificent Auditorium in Flaine Fôret.
Chief of Championship, Anne Taylor says, ‘we are thrilled with the enthusiasm from schools this year. The snow is fantastic and we are looking forward to a really exciting championship. Many schools are returning to Flaine to defend their titles and we are pleased that there are also schools taking part for the first time in this our fifty-third British Schoolgirls’ Championships’.
‘We are very grateful to our sponsors, supporting and showcasing this British schoolgirl talent, particularly to our main sponsor MTGY, who have been supporting us for the last five years.’
